During its municipal incorporation, the City of Punta Gorda was comprised of approximately 30 acres. Today, Punta Gorda has prospered to include more than 21 square miles of land and over 70 miles of canals, all bounded by beautiful Charlotte Harbor.
Punta Gorda is the principal city of the Punta Gorda, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area which encompasses all of Charlotte County. As the county seat, it is also the only incorporated area within the County.
