Pine Island consists of five communities: Matlacha, Pine Island Center, Bokeelia, Pineland and St. James City. Each is unique, each special, yet all are Pine Island. Neighborhoods are known by their street names - the "fish" streets, "tree" streets, "boat" streets and more. Restaurants are scattered throughout our five communities as are quaint and charming cottages and motels, all with water access.
St. James City is the most developed area, holding over half of the island's population. Most of the homes are located along direct access canals that lead to the Gulf of Mexico. St. James City is located on the eastern end of Pine Island. St. James City is a non-deed restricted community. You will find a plentitude of agricultural land on Pine Island with Pine Island being famous for its many palm tree nurseries. Many of Saint James City homes and condos featuring fantastic water access to Pine Island Sound and Charlotte Harbor which leads to the Gulf of Mexico. You will find a Lee County access point which can be used for anglers’ convenience. St. James City residents enjoy boating, fishing and even have their several dining options and tackle shop. Saint James property options consist of homes, condominiums and land ranging from under $100k to multi-million dollar waterfront properties. Real estate opportunities in St. James City include single family homes many being canal homes, agricultural and building land.
